Mr. Mahinda Rajapakshe

 

DA on 18 November 1945 at Weeraketiya Medamulana area. Born to Mr. Rajapaksa, he is currently 75 years old. His wife is Mrs. Shiranthi Wickramasinghe Rajapaksa. Namal Rajapaksa, Yoshitha Rajapaksa and Rohitha Rajapaksa are his three sons. Chamal Rajapaksa is the elder brother and Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and Basil Rajapaksa are the two younger brothers. Generations of people are at the top of politics.

He won the 2004 presidential election and was sworn in as President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. He stopped the brutal war that had been going on for 30 years and within five years of coming to power he gave victory to the Sri Lankans. Later, he won the 2009 presidential election and took the country on an unprecedented path of development.

But he was defeated in the 2015 presidential election. The reason for this is that the opposition party has been building a large ideology on fraud and corruption in the country until then. However, it was later confirmed that fraud and corruption had taken place at that time. All those involved were punished by an independent court. However, Mahinda returned to politics, formed a new party called the Sri Lanka People's Front, fought against the government that came to power in 2015 and returned to the 2019 presidential election with his brother Gotabhaya Rajapaksa presented and won a huge victory. Such a victory was possible due to the displeasure of the people due to the many weaknesses of the previous government such as the Easter bombing and the theft of money from the Central Bank.

But today the country is in a deep economic depression and the people are without food. At present this government is extremely unpopular with the people due to the unbearable tax burden on all sectors such as the high commodity price hike, a number of contract issues and a number of public service issues. However, the decision to start farming using compost is a very commendable decision. But there are also some problems. Mahinda Rajapakse is the prime minister of this government.

But despite his failure in politics, he will go down in history as a leader who did some service to the country.
